Listen to your mother!

Even at my advanced age, I still listen to my mother…on most things, anyway. I was having an unproductive day and wasn’t feeling motivated to do anything, when mom called. Because it was a nice sunny day, she suggested grabbing a book and heading for the Edmonds beach.  Great idea!

I took Craig Groeschel’s book, The Christian Atheist: Believing in God but Living As If He Doesn’t Exist, and spent a lovely hour in the sunshine reading, absorbing some Vitamin D, and watching ferries and boats go by. Oh, and there were several friendly walkers and runners, too.  (That didn’t motivate me at all. Ha!)

It was a cool afternoon, but it was still comfortable wearing a sweater.  About 4:30, though, it started getting cooler so it was time to head home.  First I stopped by Ezell’s Chicken and picked up some fried chicken livers – yum! (Yeah, I know most of you are gagging but when prepared correctly, I like ’em!)

And now that I’m home again, I’m motivated.  I’ve applied for several jobs since I got home, sent out a few e-mails to connect with former co-workers, emptied the dishwasher, folded clothes, and after this is posted I’ll pay some bills.

One thing I’ve learned about myself during my time of unemployment is that I need to get out of the house at least once a day.  And when I can get a dose of sunshine, blue sky and sea…life is good. So thanks, mom!
